How to be unique in a mediocre world

Monday Motivator
Hey 👋

On being ‘realistic’

I really abhor the term ‘realistic’.

When you say it it’s like you’ve given up. You’ve dropped the bar until it’s now easily achievable.

“Get real.”
“Be realistic.”

How about you get stuffed?

How do you like them apples?

Punk!

Yup. That’s how much terms like that get my back up.

I’ve spent some time thinking about why it gets me so het up. Because it can feel like someone is gut-punching me when they use that kind of language.

And these are sometimes people I care about. I love.

But the feeling of disappointment is palpable when someone speaks like this.

Why give up?

On your dreams. Your goals and your ambitions.

F*$k being realistic. It doesn’t work if you want to be *unique in a mediocre world. Have big goals. Then get real about the amount of work and sacrifice it will take to get those goals.

And then go forth! Do. The. Work. Give the things up you have to and then be appreciative of the people who keep telling you to be realistic.

There will be fuel in those words now. They will be the energy you can use to prove to yourself and to them that you are unique, you are not going to be realistic and you are not going to be mediocre.

Get out there and win today!

Have a successful week. Stay safe and stay connected.

Best regards,
Glenn Edley

Quote for the week

“Whatever you do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius and power and magic in it”
