I remember reading an article about the ex-Servilles Ponsonby owner Louise Pilkington where she mentioned she uses the Kaizen Strategy in her business. Using it to improve her business. Having no idea what Kaizen was I decided to use the all-powerful Google and find out. This is what I found;
What is Kaizen? Kaizen means “improvement”. Kaizen strategy calls for never-ending efforts for improvement involving everyone in the organisation – managers and workers alike.
Kaizen and Management – Management has two major components:
So, in my own words, management first establish Standard Operating Procedures, implement those procedures and then work on eliminating waste from those procedures.
Kaizen provides employee empowerment by the use of the suggestion system. They are encouraged to make suggestions and those suggestions are implemented if they will improve the current procedures leading to an upgraded standard.
Kaizen’s Starting Point: Setting the Right Mindset & Business Environment
not a single day should go by without some kind of improvement being made somewhere in the company
customer-driven strategy for improvement – any management activity should eventually lead to increased customer satisfaction
quality first, not profit first – an enterprise can prosper only if customers who purchase its products or services are satisfied
I believe, ‘there is always a better way’ and that improving yours’ef or your business 1% a day will invoke the Power of Compounding. Kaizen embodies this perfectly.
From today look at the processes you follow and where little improvements, 1%, can be made that could make a BIG difference to your business or yourself.
